At the start of the meeting—his first with Carney since the latter assumed office as Prime Minister—His Majesty underscored the deep and solid friendship between the two nations, expressing Jordan’s commitment to continued collaboration to further build on these ties.

The King highlighted the importance of Canada's support for Jordan’s development efforts and reaffirmed Jordan’s interest in expanding cooperation across various sectors, including trade, education, and healthcare.

The discussions also explored opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the investment sector to benefit both economies.

His Majesty emphasized Canada's role as an important partner in promoting peace and stability in the region and commended its support for humanitarian efforts in Gaza.

King Abdullah and Prime Minister Carney stressed the urgent need to exert all possible efforts to end the war in Gaza and to ensure the continuous delivery of humanitarian, relief, and medical aid to civilians throughout the Strip, which is currently experiencing a devastating humanitarian crisis.

The King called for an end to the dangerous escalation in the West Bank and across the region, emphasizing that respecting the sovereignty of states is essential to paving the way for a political horizon that leads to peace and stability across the region.

He also reaffirmed Jordan’s support for Syria’s security, stability, and territorial integrity, in a way that safeguards its sovereignty and the well-being of its citizens.

Prime Minister Carney welcomed His Majesty and praised the depth of Jordan–Canada relations, expressing appreciation for Jordan’s role—under the King’s leadership—in advancing regional stability.

During the meeting, Carney announced that Canada would allocate CAD 28.4 million to support Jordan in the fields of development, education, healthcare, and job creation, in addition to strengthening defense and security sectors to enhance capabilities in combating terrorism and transnational crime.

His Majesty also emphasized the importance of intensifying international efforts to uphold the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, reiterating that the two-state solution remains the only path to achieving just and comprehensive peace.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Safadi, Director of His Majesty’s Office Eng. Alaa Batayneh, Jordan’s Ambassador to Canada Sabah Al-Rafii, and Canadian officials.

Separately, Minister Safadi held extensive talks in Ottawa with Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand.
