The medical team at the Jordanian Field Hospital South Gaza 6 successfully performed a life-saving surgery on a child on Sunday, extracting a large shrapnel fragment that had penetrated the neck, pharynx, and airway. The operation involved a precise surgical exploration of the neck.

The hospital director explained that the child had sustained a severe injury to the neck and pharynx, with the shrapnel piercing critical areas and causing breathing difficulties, posing an immediate threat to his life.
He added that the case was critical and required immediate surgical intervention. A specialized medical team, including general surgeons, anesthesiologists, pediatric surgeons, and ENT surgeons, carried out the procedure. The shrapnel was successfully removed through the mouth, and the child's condition is now stable.
It is worth noting that since beginning its mission on April 21, the Jordanian Field Hospital South Gaza 6 has treated 32,723 patients and performed 358 major and minor surgeries, as part of its ongoing efforts to alleviate the suffering of residents in the Gaza Strip and provide continuous emergency medical care.
