In a Foreign Ministry statement, Israeli forces sabotaged the locks of Al-Silsila Gate and the door leading to the roof of the Islamic Museum. They cut the wires of Al-Haram Al-Sharif’s external speakers on the western side, and harassed the Jordanian awqaf staff at Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The ministry’s spokesperson, Ambassador Dhaifallah Al-Fayez, reiterated that the actions of the Israeli occupation forces are “unacceptable, condemned, and reprehensible”. These acts, he added, entail a provocation to the feelings of Muslims and constitute a violation of the mosque's sanctity and the legal and historical status of the shrine.

He stressed that the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, with its entire area of 144 dunums, is a sacred place of worship for Muslims, and its affairs are exclusively run by the Awqaf Administration of Jerusalem, whose staff is appointed by Jordan.

Fayez demanded the Israeli authorities abide by their obligations as an occupying power in occupied East Jerusalem, in accordance with international law, to “end these actions and provocations, and to respect the sanctity of the mosque, the status quo, and the authority managing the Jerusalem endowments,” and the affairs of Al-Aqsa.
