The agreement was signed by Minister of Finance Abdel Hakim Al-Shibli in the presence of Sawsan Al-Arouri, Deputy Director of KfW in Jordan. The funds will be directed toward two high-impact national programs designed to strengthen water security and promote inclusive education across the Kingdom.

The first program, valued at €25 million, supports Jordan’s National Water Strategy 2023–2040 by enhancing the balance of water resources and improving the country’s resilience to climate change. It includes funding for the government’s contribution to the Aqaba-Amman Water Desalination and Conveyance Project (AAWDCP), as well as investments in measures to reduce non-revenue water losses. The program will be implemented by the Ministry of Water and Irrigation and the Water Authority of Jordan.

The second program, worth €5 million, focuses on promoting inclusive education for children with disabilities in public schools through a joint initiative between the Ministry of Education and the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. The project will upgrade around 32 public schools, including Abdullah Bin Umm Maktoum School and several schools in Koura District, to create inclusive and accessible learning environments. It will improve infrastructure, provide assistive technologies, and train teachers to ensure equitable learning opportunities for all students.

Through this agreement, Germany reaffirms its continued commitment to supporting Jordan’s national priorities, particularly in the vital sectors of water and education, thereby fostering sustainable development and creating tangible benefits for local communities across the Kingdom.
