The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates considered the step significant and consistent with international efforts aimed at recognizing a sovereign Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the two-state solution, in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab Peace Initiative.

Ministry spokesperson Fouad Al-Majali affirmed Jordan’s appreciation for the Belgian Foreign Minister’s announcement, describing it as an important move to counter attempts to deny the inalienable right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and to realize their independent and sovereign state on their national territory.

He stressed the importance of the two-state solution conference, to be held under Saudi-French sponsorship during the UN General Assembly, to mobilize international support for further recognition of the Palestinian state based on the two-state solution, as the sole path to achieving a just and comprehensive peace that ensures security and stability in the region.

Al-Majali reiterated Jordan’s firm stance on working with Arab brothers and international partners to support the Palestinian people’s right to freedom, justice, the end of occupation, self-determination, and the establishment of their independent state on their national territory.
