According to the ministry’s document titled “Initiative to Regulate Social Phenomena”, the primary goal is to strengthen the values of moderation and cooperation among citizens and to reduce displays of luxury and ostentation that create financial and psychological burdens while contradicting religious and social values.

The initiative calls for organizing banquets, processions, and celebrations in accordance with public laws and regulations, avoiding road closures or disturbances, and limiting guest numbers by adopting simpler practices that reflect the spirit rather than the appearance of the occasion.

It also encourages turning such events into opportunities to strengthen social ties and promote positive values, rather than occasions for boasting or competition in appearances. The ministry believes this will help achieve social and economic balance, preserve individual dignity, and reinforce community cohesion.

The initiative further emphasizes the importance of media and public awareness in supporting these efforts and calls on institutions and individuals alike to adopt this positive approach in line with the state’s vision of promoting social responsibility and moderation in lifestyle choices.

Key Highlights of the Initiative:

Regulating weddings, funerals, and public events to reflect simplicity and respect, avoiding exaggerated displays and high costs.

Recommending that the number of guests at social events not exceed 200 persons, to reduce expenses and preserve the calm social nature of such occasions.

Encouraging modest celebrations without extravagance, suggesting simple meals or symbolic gatherings instead of multi-day banquets.

Stressing the need to avoid road closures or traffic disruptions during weddings or processions, in full compliance with public safety laws.

Recommending that weddings and mourning gatherings be limited to one day only, to save time, money, and social effort.

Urging citizens to turn such events into opportunities for solidarity and cooperation, away from superficial appearances that weaken genuine social bonds.

Highlighting the importance of returning to authentic Islamic and Jordanian values based on moderation and compassion rather than vanity and rivalry.

Calling on media outlets and official bodies to raise awareness about the initiative’s content and goals to ensure broad public adherence.
