In a press statement on Saturday, Ministry spokesperson Fouad Al-Majali said that Jordan’s election to the Board reflects the Kingdom’s esteemed international standing and underscores the strong confidence of the international community in its ability to play an active role in strengthening the disarmament and non-proliferation regime.
Al-Majali reaffirmed the Kingdom’s firm commitment to supporting the work of the IAEA and to continuing cooperation with international partners to ensure full compliance with the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). He stressed Jordan’s efforts to promote the universality of the treaty, particularly in the Middle East, through the establishment of a zone free of nuclear weapons and other weapons of mass destruction, and by subjecting all nuclear facilities in the region to the Agency’s comprehensive safeguards system.
