The head of the Palestinian Committee in the Jordanian House of Representatives, MP Eng. Suleiman Al-Saud, stated on Thursday that May 15 is not merely a commemoration of the Nakba, but rather the reopening of a wound that has never healed — a continuing tragedy fueled by silence, complacency, and complicity.

In a press statement, Al-Saud described the Nakba as an ongoing crime against an unarmed people who were forcibly displaced from their homeland in what he called the largest ethnic cleansing operation in modern history.
He emphasized that despite 77 years of suffering, the Palestinian people remain unbroken. He noted that the Nakba has not ended, settlement expansion continues, Gaza remains under siege, and refugees are still denied their right of return, while Palestinian prisoners remain deprived of freedom.
“Palestine is not a negotiation file or a diplomatic agenda item,” Al-Saud asserted. “It is a just cause that will never expire with time — a homeland that cannot be erased by displacement, and an identity that endures despite all attempts to obliterate it.”
He reaffirmed that Jerusalem will remain Arab and Islamic, the Hashemite custodianship over holy sites is non-negotiable, and the right of return is sacred and not up for compromise.
Al-Saud also emphasized that Jordan, under Hashemite leadership, will remain committed to Palestine until victory or martyrdom, and that the Parliament's role goes beyond statements — encompassing oversight, legislation, and policy direction. He concluded, “We will continue reminding the world that Palestinian rights are not up for debate, and that those seeking to erase their identity will only face disgrace.”
