AMMAN — The Ministry of Industry and Trade has
cautioned traders and importers against engaging in business and financial
transactions through video calls and the internet.

According to Al-Mamlaka TV, this warning comes
in response to alerts issued by Chinese public security authorities regarding
cases of fraud that utilize artificial intelligence to deceive victims into
transferring funds to unauthorized destinations.
WarningAccording to a letter from the Jordanian Embassy
in Beijing, official Chinese newspapers have issued warnings after discovering
attempts to use artificial intelligence to mimic people’s voices and
appearances.
Meanwhile, the Internet Society of China has
also issued a statement regarding fraudulent face swapping operations, as
deepfake technology has become widely available.
The statement further emphasizes that related
products and services have gradually increased recently.
Moreover, it advises individuals to carefully
manage their social media accounts, especially when logging in from unfamiliar
devices, to prevent theft of personal information.
