The commission’s spokesperson, Mohammed Rawashdeh,
said that in addition to the campaign violations, the commission had noted 36
suspected instances of electoral fraud in the form of vote buying.
The
violations stem from candidates “either wanting to
break the law or misunderstanding the campaigning rules,” Rawashdeh said,
adding that “most of the violations ... have not yet reached the level of gross
infraction”.
He noted that the number of violations could rise on
polling day and that the commission has intensified its efforts to address any
complaints it receives.
The commission continues to oversee the Kingdom’s 1,850
polling stations, providing them with the necessary equipment ahead of election
day, and will distribute 6,937 ballot boxes ahead of election day, Rawasheh
said.
