Khatib said that the association is preparing a draft on the matter, through a specialized committee, which will be presented to the general assembly in the coming days, and is amending the retirement and health insurance systems as part of a plan to improve the association’s administrative work.

“I presented to Jordan TV a plan to produce income-generating works whose positive effects will reflect on the syndicate and the artistic movement in general, in addition to a draft on a musical and theatrical work agreement, as well as on drama and short films,” Khatib said.

He added that the format of the Jordanian Theater Festival have not changed for nearly 30 years, and there will be a reorganization of the song festival in a way that keeps pace with developments at local and global levels.

He indicated that the COVID-19 pandemic has had a negative effect on arts and artists, as concerts and artistic activities stopped due to defense orders, and this necessitated spending from the association’s money.

Khatib stressed that the syndicate relies for its income on permits to practice the profession, granted to Jordanians, other Arabs or foreigners, and on members’ subscriptions, which makes up a small percentage of the total income, noting that the association does not receive any government support but has to rely on itself.
