Amman – Jordan’s Minister of Labor, Dr. Khalid Al-Bakar, met today, Monday, at his office with Abbas Saber, President of the Egyptian General Union of Petroleum Workers, Secretary-General Ahmed Al-Sarouji, and members of the union council to discuss labor cooperation and the exchange of expertise in training and qualifying youth for job opportunities in the oil, gas, and petrochemical sectors.اضافة اعلان

During the meeting, which was attended by the Ministry’s Secretary-General Dr. Abdel Halim Dougan and the President of the Jordanian General Union of Petroleum and Chemicals Workers Khaled Al-Zyoud, Al-Bakar highlighted the strong Jordanian-Egyptian relations, reflected in the two countries’ shared commitment to consultation and exchange of views on all matters, guided by the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II and President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt.

Al-Bakar stressed the importance of exchanging expertise between the two countries and benefiting from Egypt’s extensive experience in oil and gas exploration, the petrochemical sector, and the job opportunities these industries provide for skilled and trained personnel working in companies in this field.

The minister welcomed any cooperation with the Egyptian side through the two unions in Jordan and Egypt, in coordination with the Egyptian Ministry of Labor, to transfer Egyptian expertise to Jordanian youth for work in this vital sector. He emphasized the need for labor unions to play a role in training and qualification related to their respective sectors, in addition to their primary role of defending the labor rights of their members.

For his part, Abbas Saber, President of the Egyptian General Union of Petroleum Workers, stressed the importance of joint cooperation between the two brotherly countries and working to enhance collaboration in labor affairs, vocational training, and occupational safety and health. He noted that Egypt has made significant progress in the oil, gas, and chemical sectors and expressed the union’s readiness, in coordination with the labor ministries of both countries, to transfer Egyptian expertise to Jordanians interested in these fields.

Meanwhile, Khaled Al-Zyoud, President of the Jordanian General Union of Petroleum and Chemicals Workers, stated that the union is ready to strengthen cooperation between the Jordanian and Egyptian unions, in coordination with the labor ministries of both countries, regarding the exchange of expertise in oil and gas exploration.

Al-Zyoud praised the Ministry of Labor’s continued openness and engagement with all production stakeholders and employers, as this contributes to creating job opportunities for Jordanian youth, training them, and enabling them to enter the labor market in a safe and decent work environment.
