The inauguration drew a large turnout of residents, who expressed optimism about the project, seeing it as a long-awaited step to meet the growing demand for health services in a region that previously lacked a comprehensive center.
Al-Badour emphasized that the new center will serve as the “patient gateway” within the healthcare system, acting as the first line of defense for citizens’ health by providing accessible and effective services, reducing pressure on the governorate’s hospitals.
He noted that the Ministry of Health is implementing a strategic plan aligned with His Majesty King Abdullah II’s vision to provide modern and advanced healthcare services across all regions of the kingdom, through the establishment of fully equipped health centers offering patients a comfortable environment.
The minister added that the ministry is replacing old and rented buildings with permanent health centers that ensure operational efficiency and higher-quality medical services, particularly in densely populated areas like the camp.
The Madaba Camp Primary Health Center was established to serve over 20,000 residents, offering a wide range of primary healthcare services including general medicine, family medicine, obstetrics and gynecology, dentistry, as well as maternal and child health services. The center also features a medical laboratory, a fully equipped pharmacy, an electronic medical record system, accounting units, and storage facilities.
The new two-story building spans 950 square meters and cost 925,000 Jordanian dinars from the decentralization budget, with the capacity to serve approximately 5,000 patients monthly, easing the burden on other health centers in the city.
Residents expressed their satisfaction with the new facility. Abu Muhammad, a camp resident, said, “We used to struggle with overcrowding and distance; now services are closer and better organized.” Similarly, Ms. Mariam Ali noted that having a comprehensive health center in the camp strengthens the community’s sense of health security, stating, “We now have maternal and child services in one place without needing to travel between centers.”
Medical staff highlighted that the new building will provide a better working environment, enabling them to deliver high-quality care thanks to its modern equipment.
Camp residents hope that this center marks the beginning of further projects aimed at enhancing public services in Madaba and promoting health-focused development that places citizens at the center of attention.
