AMMAN — The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) on Friday said that in consultation with the Asian Confederation Council and key partners, it would postpone the 30th edition of the Asian Men's Basketball Championship, which was slated to be held in the Indonesian capital of Jakarta in July.اضافة اعلان

The tournament was scheduled to take place from August 17 to 29, but FIBA said aspects such as travel restrictions, the welfare of participants, access to fans, and ensuring the highest quality of events, factored into its decision.

Thirteen teams qualified for the first event out of a total of 16 teams, and the last three places will be determined through two qualifying tournaments for third-ranked teams that will play in the second part of August.

In addition, the AFC granted its Jordanian counterpart the honor of hosting the 2021 AFC Women’s Cup – (Section A), which will be held from September 27 to October 3, 2021, based on Jordan’s success in recently organizing the AFC Asian Cup qualifier.

The Jordan Basketball Association will also organize the 2021 Women's Asian Cup — (Section B) from November 7 to 13.
