Immediately after the final whistle, the Argentine midfielder physically assaulted Spanish players Eric García and Gavi—an unsportsmanlike display that sparked broad outrage.
From the pitch at MetLife Stadium, Paredes struggled to process his nation's 1–0 defeat in extra time. Losing his composure after the match ended, he attacked the two Spanish players in a shameful scene.
