Speaking to reporters during a stop at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland early Monday morning, Trump stated:

“Our talks on Gaza are ongoing, and we hope to reach something within the next week—we’ll see what happens.”

U.S. Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff also voiced optimism about the ongoing ceasefire negotiations, saying he was hopeful about a breakthrough.

The United States is backing a 60-day ceasefire proposal that includes the phased release of hostages held in Gaza, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from certain areas of the Strip, and the resumption of negotiations aimed at reaching a final resolution to the conflict.

Meanwhile, Hamas reported that a delegation from the group met with representatives of Islamic Jihad to discuss the latest developments in the ceasefire negotiations. The discussions included responses from the Israeli side to proposals submitted by mediators and ways to address them.

According to Israel’s Channel 12, Israeli officials are expected to present new maps outlining a potential withdrawal of Israeli forces from parts of the Gaza Strip—possibly including the Morag corridor.
