Local and security sources told the official Palestinian news agency (WAFA) that hundreds of settlers stormed Awarta under the protection of Israeli occupation forces and performed Talmudic rituals at the shrines.
Occupation forces had closed the checkpoints at Deir Sharaf and the surrounding areas of Awarta in Nablus, coinciding with the settlers' incursion.
On Saturday, settlers escalated their attacks across the West Bank, injuring a number of Palestinians — including two sisters — in attacks carried out by terrorist settlers under the protection of Israeli occupation forces, in the governorates of Ramallah, Jenin, Hebron, and Nablus.
In Silwad, northeast of Ramallah, sisters Muna and Aliya Mahmoud Hamed (75 and 65) sustained bruises and injuries after settlers assaulted them while they were picking figs, stealing their phones and their car key.
Settlers, under the protection of occupation forces, also attacked the towns of Al-Mughayyir and Burqa and their farmers, opening fire and damaging a vehicle, while two Palestinians were injured in a similar attack in Arraba, south of Jenin.
In Hebron, a foreign solidarity activist suffered from suffocation and Palestinians sustained injuries and bruises during a settler attack in Khallet al-Hummus, in the town of Yatta, while a foreign activist was abducted from the village of Umm al-Khair before being detained by occupation police. Settlers also attacked Palestinian homes in Yasuf, Salfit, and carried out provocative patrols in Khalayel al-Louz, Bethlehem.
In Nablus, two Palestinians were injured with bruises during a settler attack, under occupation forces' protection, on a home in the Ras al-Ain area of the town of Qusra, while occupation forces prevented an ambulance from reaching the besieged house, and settlers set fire to Palestinian land.
Settlers also attacked Palestinian Mahmoud al-Tubasi, his wife, and a journalist crew in the village of Jalud, smashing the crew's vehicle and physically assaulting them.
