Qatar: Iran Should Not Use the Strait of Hormuz to “Blackmail” Gulf States

Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said on Tuesday that Iran should not use the Strait of Hormuz as a means to pressure or “blackmail” Gulf countries.اضافة اعلان

Speaking at a joint press conference in Doha with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Al Thani stated: “Iran should not use the Strait of Hormuz to pressure or blackmail Gulf states.”

Fidan said that Ankara supports efforts aimed at reopening the Strait of Hormuz, adding that the waterway should not be used as a “weapon” during the war involving Iran.

He also noted that Turkey is contributing to efforts led by Pakistan to reach a negotiated solution to end the conflict between Iran and the United States.
