The attacks targeted areas in eastern Gaza under Israeli control, marking new violations of the ceasefire agreement that came into effect on October 10, 2025.

Eyewitnesses reported intense Israeli airstrikes across eastern Gaza City, coinciding with artillery fire. Military vehicles shelled scattered areas northeast of Al-Bureij camp, unleashing heavy, indiscriminate fire.

Thousands of Tents Flooded

Simultaneously, hundreds of tents were destroyed or blown away by a severe storm hitting the Gaza Strip since Monday evening. This is the second major storm in less than a week, following the polar “Byron” storm, which killed 14 Palestinians and damaged or flooded around 53,000 tents, worsening residents’ suffering.

Rainwater seeped into sections of Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City, particularly the emergency and reception areas, disrupting operations. Al-Shifa, the largest hospital in the Strip, had suffered extensive damage from prior Israeli attacks but was partially restored by Gaza’s Ministry of Health over the past two months since the ceasefire. However, the scale of destruction, lack of resources, and Israeli restrictions on medical supplies continue to prevent normal operation.

Thousands of displaced Palestinians were forced to spend the night in the open, with tents submerged or blown away. Palestinian Khaled Abdulaziz described waking up to strong winds that destroyed his tent and scattered all his belongings: “We are now in the open under the rain, with nowhere to shelter.” Similarly, Palestinian mother Maha Abu Jazar fled with her three children after her tent was completely flooded in the Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Younis.

Hundreds sought refuge under debris and partially destroyed buildings in Gaza City to escape rain and cold.

Thousands Left Homeless

Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal warned of the risk of thousands of partially damaged homes collapsing due to heavy rain and winds, endangering hundreds of thousands of Palestinians who lack safe shelter. He noted that repeated warnings to the international community have gone unanswered. During the previous storm, at least 13 damaged buildings collapsed on residents seeking shelter from the rain and cold.

These developments occur amid Israel’s failure to meet obligations under the ceasefire and humanitarian protocol, including the delivery of shelter materials, 300,000 tents, and mobile homes, according to Gaza’s government media office.

Since October 8, 2023, Israel, with U.S. support, has waged a genocidal war on Gaza, resulting in over 70,000 deaths and about 171,000 injuries, mostly children and women, alongside the destruction of nearly 90% of civilian infrastructure.
