Lebanese President Joseph Aoun affirmed that Lebanon is not in danger. In a meeting with local economic journalists yesterday, he stated, “We cannot remain outside the current regional path, which is the path of crisis resolution. We must be part of it, as it is no longer possible to endure more war, destruction, killing, and displacement.”

He explained that “the Lebanese state has previously negotiated with Israel under the auspices of the United States and the United Nations, resulting in an agreement on maritime border demarcation. So what prevents repeating the same process to find solutions to outstanding issues, especially since war has yielded no results?
Israel went on to negotiate with Hamas because it had no other option after trying war and destruction. Today, the prevailing atmosphere is one of settlements, and negotiations are necessary… the form these negotiations will take will be determined at the appropriate time.”
Aoun expressed his hope “that we will reach a time when Israel commits to stopping military operations against Lebanon, and the negotiation process begins, because the regional path we see should not be contradicted.”
Regarding the situation with Syria, Aoun said, “We often hear about troop buildups on the border, but when the army sends out patrols, it becomes clear that these reports are unfounded.” He added, “The meetings I held with Syrian President Ahmad Al-Shara were positive, and during the visit of Syrian Foreign Minister Assad Al-Sheibani to Beirut last Friday, a series of principles were confirmed within the framework of mutual respect, cooperation, and coordination at security and economic levels.”
