The Israeli minister added during a tour of northern Gaza that he intends to establish three military-style settlement outposts in the Gaza Strip.
When asked how he felt about the scene of destruction in Gaza, Katz replied without hesitation: "It feels good, doesn't it?" He said that all of this destruction was "the result of a deliberate policy aimed at eliminating threats."
He added: "Instead of the raid method—going in and going out—the Israeli army is now inside, the terrorists are outside, and the houses are destroyed."
Channel 14 noted that the most significant moment during the tour came when Katz presented a new strategic objective: establishing a permanent Jewish presence in the northern Gaza Strip.
Katz said: "I intend to establish three Nahal nuclei" at sites that had existed in the northern Gaza Strip before Israel's withdrawal from the area in 2005.
"Nahal nuclei" are youth groups with a military-settlement character that have historically been used to establish residential communities or new settlements before later developing into civilian towns.
Katz considered this step necessary from a security standpoint, saying that it would strengthen control over and defense of the communities.
