Israel Rejects Two-Year Deadline for Hamas Disarmament
Israeli media reported on Monday that Tel Aviv has rejected a proposal presented by mediators granting the Palestinian movement Hamas a two-year deadline to disarm, insisting instead on reducing the period to just a few months. This comes within ongoing negotiations for a comprehensive ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.اضافة اعلان

Israel considers the proposed deadline "far too long" and is demanding that the disarmament process be completed within a few months, arguing that any delay could allow Hamas to reorganize its ranks.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated that the second phase of the Trump plan for Gaza will be more challenging, emphasizing the necessity of disarming Hamas to ensure Israel’s security.

He added that important talks with U.S. President Donald Trump are scheduled for the end of this month to discuss how to implement this phase.

The Trump plan aims to end Hamas’ rule in Gaza and establish an alternative authority, while ensuring Israel’s security from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea. Disarming Hamas remains one of the major obstacles to the plan’s implementation, as the movement refuses to give up its weapons without international guarantees to end the war and lift the blockade on Gaza.

A ceasefire agreement between Hamas and Israel has been in effect in Gaza since 10 October, reached through Egyptian, American, Qatari, and Turkish mediation under President Trump’s plan. The agreement seeks a comprehensive halt to hostilities, the release of detainees and prisoners from both sides, and the entry of humanitarian aid into Gaza.
