Two Israeli officials told Axios that U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio informed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that President Donald Trump’s administration supports the ground operation but wants it executed quickly and concluded as soon as possible.
The site quoted a senior Israeli official saying, “Rubio did not restrain the momentum of the ground operation.”
A U.S. official confirmed that the Trump administration will not stop Israel and will allow it to make its own decisions regarding the war in Gaza.
The U.S. official added: “This is not Trump’s war, but Netanyahu’s war, and he bears responsibility for what happens next.”
Palestinian television reported on Monday evening that 37 Israeli airstrikes occurred in just 20 minutes over areas in Gaza City.
The Palestinian TV also noted that the Israeli shelling continues, with artillery fire supported by warplanes concentrated in the northwestern part of Gaza City.
