According to the Jordan Meteorological Department report, the Kingdom will be affected tomorrow, Friday, by a hot and dry heatwave expected to last several days. This is due to the passage of an extremely hot air mass coming from the Arabian Peninsula. As a result, temperatures will rise significantly, reaching 6 to 7°C above their seasonal averages. The weather will be hot and dry in most areas, and very hot in the Badia, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Winds will be moderate southeasterly, turning northwesterly in the afternoon.

The heatwave will persist on Saturday with a slight increase in temperatures. The weather will be hot over high mountain areas and extremely hot elsewhere, with medium- and high-altitude clouds appearing. Winds will be moderate southeasterly to southwesterly, occasionally active and raising dust, especially in the Badia, and will shift to northwesterly in the evening.

On Sunday, the Kingdom will remain under the influence of the hot and dry air mass. The weather will be dusty and hot in most regions and extremely hot in the Badia, the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba, with medium- and high-altitude clouds continuing to appear. There is a slight chance of light, brief, and scattered showers of rain over parts of the south and east during the evening. Winds will be moderate northeasterly to northwesterly and may become active at times.

The Director of the Jordan Meteorological Department, Raed Al-Khattab, stated that the Kingdom will be affected by the heatwave starting Friday, August 8, with its effects expected to last until the end of the second week of the month — specifically, until Thursday, August 14 — due to an intense hot air mass moving in from the Arabian Peninsula.

Al-Khattab explained that temperatures will rise significantly, reaching approximately 6 to 7°C above their general averages for this time of year.

He forecasted that the high temperature in the capital, Amman, will reach 40°C on Friday and peak at 41°C on Saturday, before returning to 40°C on Sunday.

From Monday through Thursday (August 11–14), high temperatures in Amman are expected to hover around 39°C as the heatwave continues. Temperatures are anticipated to begin gradually returning to normal starting in the third week of the month, God willing.

Today’s high and low temperatures are expected to be as follows:

East Amman: 35°C / 23°C

West Amman: 33°C / 21°C

Northern Highlands: 30°C / 18°C

Sharah Highlands: 31°C / 19°C
