Cold Conditions to Persist Before Noticeable Weekend Warm-Up

Amman, Feb. 19 - Relatively cold conditions are expected to continue across most regions through Thursday, with dust, patchy rain, and reduced visibility affecting parts of the country before a clear warming trend sets in for the weekend, the Jordan Meteorological Department said.اضافة اعلان

Cool weather is forecast to dominate on Wednesday, while low-lying areas, including the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea, and Aqaba, remain comparatively mild. Low-level clouds are expected, with a chance of light rain in northern areas. Southwesterly winds are forecast to strengthen at times, raising dust across several regions, particularly in the Badia.

The department warned of reduced horizontal visibility due to blowing dust in desert areas and the possibility of fog forming during early morning and late-night hours over high mountain areas.

A further slight drop in temperatures is expected on Thursday, bringing colder conditions to mountainous regions while low-lying areas retain milder weather. Low-level cloud cover is forecast, with a weak chance of light rain early in the far north under moderate northwesterly winds.

Temperatures are forecast to rise from Friday, bringing sunny and mild conditions across most regions through Saturday, while the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba are expected to see warm weather. Southeasterly winds are expected to blow at moderate speeds, becoming active at times.

Temperatures in eastern Amman are forecast to range between 16 C and 6 C, compared with 14 C and 4 C in western Amman. The northern highlands are expected to record between 12 C and 3 C, while the Sharah highlands will range from 15 C to 4 C. Aqaba is forecast to see highs of 26 C and lows of 12 C.
