The victory marked the second consecutive German Super Cup title for Belgian coach Vincent Kompany’s side and Bayern’s record-extending 12th title in the competition, six more than second-placed Dortmund, whose last triumph came in 2019.

Bayern settled the match in the first half, taking the lead through new signing Nathaniel Brown in the 29th minute before French star Michael Olise doubled the advantage in first-half stoppage time.

The reigning Bundesliga and German Cup champions will begin their league campaign on Friday at the Allianz Arena, where they will host Stuttgart.

Bayern have lost only once in their last 17 matches against Dortmund across all competitions, winning 13 of those encounters.

Since Dortmund’s last German Super Cup triumph in 2019, the two sides have met three times in the competition, with Dortmund failing to win any of those matches.

Dortmund also finished runners-up to Bayern in the Bundesliga last season, trailing the champions by 16 points.

Playing at home at Signal Iduna Park, Dortmund started aggressively and came close to opening the scoring when new signing Konstantinos Karetsas sent in a cross that Guinean striker Serhou Guirassy failed to connect with properly in front of goal in the 12th minute.

Bayern responded with an early effort from Aleksandar Pavlovic, whose shot was comfortably saved by Swiss goalkeeper Gregor Kobel in the 13th minute. English striker Harry Kane then attempted to catch Kobel off guard with a long-range effort after the goalkeeper had moved away from his line, but the shot lacked power and Kobel recovered to make the save in the 27th minute.

Two minutes later, Olise produced one of his trademark contributions, delivering an assist for Brown, who scored his first competitive goal for Bayern after having already scored twice in two friendly matches.

Dortmund appeared to have equalized through an Rami Bensebaini header, but the referee ruled the goal out for offside in the 41st minute.

After providing the assist for the opening goal, Olise found the net himself in first-half stoppage time. He capitalized on a misplaced pass, raced into the penalty area and finished calmly to make it 2–0 in the 45+2nd minute, leaving Dortmund with a difficult task heading into halftime.

Within the first 20 minutes of the second half, Dortmund coach Niko Kovac introduced four substitutes in an attempt to turn the match around.

His changes paid off in the 75th minute when Portuguese substitute Fábio Silva pulled one back for Dortmund following a well-organized attack and a precise assist from Swedish defender Daniel Svensson.

The former Wolverhampton striker finished with his left foot to make it 2–1.

Moroccan forward Ismael Saibari came on in the 81st minute for his competitive Bayern debut following his move from Dutch club PSV Eindhoven.

Saibari made an immediate impact, drawing a heavy challenge from Bensebaini, who was shown a straight red card in the 90th minute.

Despite being reduced to 10 men, Dortmund continued searching for an equalizer. Their best late opportunity fell to Maximilian Beier, whose effort went over the crossbar in the 90+3rd minute.

Dortmund ultimately could not find a second goal, allowing Bayern Munich to secure the German Super Cup and begin the new season with a trophy.
