The Director of Ajloun Agriculture Directorate, Eng. Rami Al-Adwan, pointed to the response of all government institutions to the national afforestation campaign, which aims to plant 10 million trees across the Kingdom. He explained that the Ministry of Local Administration and Youth and the Ministry of Agriculture, in coordination with Ajloun Governorate and municipalities, launched a comprehensive national tree-planting campaign in all municipalities of the governorate, with a site selected in each municipality for phased afforestation.

Al-Adwan explained that forestry personnel continue to monitor violations against forest resources. He noted that the number of forestry violations recorded reached 106 in 2023, compared with 91 in 2024 and 97 in 2025, pointing out that approximately 90% of these cases resulted in judicial rulings and deterrent penalties.

He stressed that vegetation cover in Ajloun Governorate faces multiple environmental challenges, most notably frost waves affecting trees and seedlings, overgrazing that limits natural forest regeneration, as well as human encroachments such as illegal logging and arson. He emphasized that forest protection is a national responsibility requiring the combined efforts of government bodies and local communities to preserve and sustain forests for future generations.

For his part, President of the Jordan Environment Society, Ali Freihat, affirmed that forest protection is not limited to tree planting alone, but also includes reducing pollution and environmental violations. He noted that the National Executive Program to Reduce Random Waste Dumping, launched under the patronage of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II, represents an important national step toward environmental protection and sustainability.

Freihat said the program directly contributes to protecting green cover and preserving natural sites, forests, and public parks by reducing environmental pollution and raising community awareness of the importance of cleanliness and safeguarding green spaces.

Meanwhile, agricultural expert Moatasem Al-Deek affirmed that forests in Ajloun Governorate represent an important national asset due to their role in protecting soil, reducing erosion, improving air quality, and preserving biodiversity.

He emphasized that protecting forests and sustaining green cover is a shared national responsibility that ensures the preservation of natural resources for future generations.
