It was discovered by Abbas Haddadin in Jordanian amber. It has short wings dated back 140 million years, and this is the date when it first appeared. It feeds on small arthropods, including worms, small molluscs, and pollen.
Some also feed on fungi and are found on sandy beaches, near water and lakes, in caves, and in the soil. Its colour is black. Its presence in amber, as shown in the photo, provides us with valuable insights into ancient life.
