Scientist Abbas Haddadin discovered a thrips insect in Jordanian amber dating back 140 million years. This small insect, less than 2 mm long, has small wings with hairs at the tips. It feeds on flower nectar, plant leaves, and fruit juices, especially tomatoes and grapes, where it deforms these fruits, leaving silver or bronze spots on them.
