The Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority announced the organization of special events to mark World Tourism Day, in conjunction with the New Seven Wonders of the World Summit, taking place from September 24–27 in Petra.

In a statement, the Authority said the events will include tours of Petra’s archaeological sites, cultural and artistic performances, specialized panel discussions on tourism sustainability, the signing of international and local cooperation agreements, in addition to community and handicraft activities that highlight the rich Nabataean heritage.
Chairman of the Authority’s Board of Commissioners, Dr. Fares Breizat, told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that these activities represent an important opportunity to showcase Petra’s standing on the global tourism map and strengthen its presence as one of the world’s premier heritage sites. He added that media participation plays a key role in conveying Petra’s message to audiences worldwide.
