Licensed building area sees a significant jump in Q3 of 2021

Amman — The total area of licensed buildings in the Kingdom shot up by a whopping 63.5 percent in the third quarter of the current year, reaching 6.292 million square meters (MSM) against 3.849 MSM reported in the same period of 2020.اضافة اعلان

According to figures released Tuesday by the Department of Statistics (DoS), the number of building licenses in the July-September period also jumped by 52.3 percent to a total of 19,742 grants compared with 12,962 permits in the corresponding period of 2020.

The area of residential buildings soared to 5.518 MSM in the third quarter of 2021, revealing an increase of 67.4 percent compared with the 3.297 MSM recorded in the same period of 2020, the DoS said.

Similarly, the total area of buildings licensed for non-residential purposes showed an increase of 40.2 percent to about 774,000 square meters, compared with around 552,000 square meters in the same period last year.
Buildings licensed for residential purposes made up 87.7 percent of the total area of licensed buildings.

In its geographic breakdown of the data, the DoS revealed that the central region of the Kingdom accounted for 66.3 percent of the total area of licensed buildings, followed by the northern and southern regions at 24.1 and 9.6 percent, respectively.
