Investment volume increased 34 percent in first nine months of 2023

AMMAN – The volume of investments benefiting from the Investment Environment Law in Jordan increased by 34 percent during the first nine months of 2023, reaching JD878.5 million compared to JD656.9 million during the same period in 2022, according to the Ministry of Investment.اضافة اعلان

In a press statement, reported by Al-Mamlaka TV, the Ministry stated that the number of projects benefiting from the law reached 372 investment projects, employing approximately 30,000 job opportunities, according to studies submitted by investors.

The Investment Environment law aims to provide a supportive environment for existing investments, in addition to creating attractive conditions for investment.

The Ministry mentioned that expansion projects benefiting from the law during the first nine months of 2023 amounted to JD430.5 million, representing a 49 percent increase, with an expected workforce of nearly 18,000.

The volume of new investments benefiting amounted to approximately JD448 million, constituting 51 percent of the total investment volume, with an expected workforce of around 12,000 job opportunities.

The industrial sector received the largest share of gains, accounting for about 64 percent of the total investments, with an investment volume of JD564.6 million. The trade sector received an investment of JD169.5 million, representing 19 percent, while the tourism sector received JD53.4 million, constituting 6 percent. Other sectors and economic activities (such as hospitals and medical centers, agriculture, information technology, services, artistic production, transportation, research and development) collectively accounted for 11 percent of the total investment volume.
