The report documents Ayla’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance, covering resource management, operational efficiency, environmental protection and contributions to the local community. It also provides partners and stakeholders with an overview of the company’s progress towards its long-term sustainability goals.
Al Oran highlighted the shared responsibility of public institutions, the private sector and the local community in protecting Aqaba’s environment. He said: “Private sector initiatives play an important role in safeguarding Aqaba’s environment and natural resources.
We welcome Ayla’s efforts to document its performance and share its progress, alongside initiatives that encourage the reduction of plastic waste.
These steps help translate environmental awareness into everyday practices that protect our city and its marine environment.”
Eng. Sahl Dudin, Managing Director of Ayla Oasis Development Company, said: “Ayla’s development is closely tied to protecting Aqaba’s natural surroundings and marine environment.
They are central to the character of this destination and the experience of everyone who lives here or visits.
This responsibility guides our daily decisions, from how we use energy and resources to how we operate our facilities and plan future projects.
Our Sustainability Report allows us to assess our progress, identify where further work is needed and share the results openly with our partners.”
As part of the programme, Ayla introduced its “Zero Plastic” initiative to reduce the use of single-use plastics across its operations and activities, while encouraging employees and stakeholders to adopt reusable alternatives.
Reusable water bottles were distributed to participants as a practical first step in supporting the initiative and encouraging everyday changes.
The event also reviewed progress across Ayla’s renewable energy, energy efficiency, waste management and biodiversity projects.
These include continued investment in solar photovoltaic systems and solutions to reduce energy consumption. Alongside these efforts, Ayla continues to support the protection of the Gulf of Aqaba’s marine environment through initiatives such as coral restoration, supported by environmental management and monitoring systems and recognised international practices.
The gathering gave employees and partners an opportunity to discuss their roles in delivering these initiatives and tracking their results.
Ayla’s priorities for the coming period include improving energy and resource management, reducing waste, protecting the environment and using digital solutions to support more efficient operations.
Ayla brings together residential developments, hospitality, leisure and retail facilities within an integrated waterfront destination in Aqaba.
Protecting the environment and natural resources remains a priority in the development and operation of its facilities, supporting sustainable tourism and the city’s wider development.
