Ministry spokesperson, Ninal Al-Barmawi, told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the campaign is part of the ministry’s strategy to strengthen confidence in the markets and combat misleading commercial practices. The campaign includes a comprehensive set of awareness, service, and regulatory activities.

Al-Barmawi noted that since the beginning of this year, the ministry issued 445 approvals for promotional campaigns to ensure compliance with laws and protect participants’ rights, and supervised prize draws to promote transparency and integrity.

On the regulatory side, the ministry conducted 8,200 inspection tours so far this year, resulting in 131,000 visits to commercial establishments, including 750 tours specifically targeting the verification of advertised offers and discounts. These inspections led to 7,100 violations being recorded, 320 of which were related to false promotions and discounts.

Additionally, the ministry received 906 consumer complaints this year, resulting in 333 violations being recorded, including 75 complaints concerning misleading advertisements and fake discounts, of which 31 were confirmed violations. All complaints were fully addressed and closed, achieving a 100% resolution rate.

Regarding awareness efforts to educate traders and consumers on their rights and obligations, Al-Barmawi said the ministry held 8 awareness workshops across 7 governorates in cooperation with the Jordan Chamber of Commerce and local chambers, sent 156,000 awareness text messages, and published numerous informational bulletins on the ministry’s website and social media platforms.

Al-Barmawi renewed the ministry’s call for consumers to actively participate in market oversight and contribute to positive change by reporting any irregularities in market practices via the complaints hotline (065629045) or WhatsApp (0797527832).
