Palestinian Activist Mahmoud Khalil Sues Trump Administration
Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil, who was detained and later released on bail after leading pro-Palestine demonstrations in the United States, has filed a lawsuit demanding disclosure of communications between the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump and groups he describes as “anti-Palestinian.”اضافة اعلان

According to CBS News on Thursday, Khalil said that “anti-Palestinian” groups exposed his identity before his detention, and that he was wrongfully accused of “terrorism and antisemitism.”

He stated that federal agencies, including U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, used information revealed by these groups to arrest him. Khalil added that these groups have been conducting a defamation campaign against him, prompting him to file a lawsuit seeking disclosure of the administration’s communications with them.

On March 8, U.S. authorities arrested Khalil, who had led solidarity protests at Columbia University the previous year condemning what he described as Israel’s genocide in the Gaza Strip. He was released by a judge in June after it was ruled that attempting to deport him based on his political views might be unconstitutional.

As of March, the United States had revoked the visas and legal status of more than 1,000 students, many of whom have filed lawsuits against the Trump administration. Temporary court orders have restored legal status for a small number of them.

The pro-Palestine protest movement that began at Columbia University in 2024 spread to more than 50 universities across the country, with police detaining more than 3,100 people, most of them students and faculty members.
