The announcement of what will be the fifth meeting between Trump and Netanyahu this year comes after the Israeli prime minister said he expects to move “very soon” to the second phase of the U.S.-brokered ceasefire agreement.

Spokesperson Shosh Badarsian said, “The meeting between President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu will be held on Monday, December 29,” without providing further details on the location or duration of the visit.

Israel’s Channel 12 reported that Netanyahu and Trump are expected to meet twice during the eight-day visit, noting that one meeting will take place at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.

Netanyahu said Sunday that he will discuss “peace opportunities” in the Middle East with Trump.

Speaking at a press conference after meeting German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Jerusalem, Netanyahu stated, “We expect very soon to move to the second phase, which is more difficult,” referring to the ceasefire in place in Gaza since October 10.

The first phase saw the release of 47 out of 48 captives, including 20 who were alive.

The second phase stipulates Israel’s withdrawal from its current positions in Gaza and the establishment of a transitional authority to govern the Strip, alongside the deployment of an international stabilization force.

According to the plan, the next phase is expected to begin once all living hostages are released and the remains of the deceased are returned.

Netanyahu added, “We have a second phase, no less difficult, which includes the disarmament of Hamas and the removal of weapons from Gaza.”
