Macron, speaking at a press conference following his meeting with Abbas at the Élysée Palace, emphasized the priority of holding elections in the Palestinian territories, stating that they would take place “one year after the transition to the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire.”

Abbas reiterated his commitment to implementing reforms within the Palestinian Authority, including organizing presidential and parliamentary elections as soon as possible.

Regarding Israel’s annexation plans in the occupied West Bank, Macron stated that any “partial or full” annexation or de facto annexation through settlement expansion constitutes a “red line.”

He added that France and its European partners would respond firmly if such projects were implemented.

Macron also warned that settler violence and accelerating settlement expansion are reaching record levels, threatening stability in the West Bank and violating international law.
