Colombian President Gustavo Petro called for the establishment of a global force to liberate Palestine, stressing that condemnation alone is insufficient to confront the crimes committed by Israel in Palestine.

Speaking to Al Jazeera on Wednesday, Petro said that several countries had expressed readiness to participate in forming a military force to liberate Palestine, adding that statements of denunciation were no longer enough.
He emphasized the need to demonstrate strength in the face of Israel and to arrest those accused of committing genocide in Gaza and bring them before the International Criminal Court, stating: “The formation of a global army to rescue Palestine will depend on the will of nations.”
Petro affirmed that “a global human majority is calling for an end to Israel’s war of extermination in Gaza,” adding that “the UN Security Council’s voting system must be changed, as it is unacceptable for a single country to impose its will on the world.”
He also expressed solidarity with the State of Qatar and conveyed his condemnation to Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani over the Israeli bombardment that struck Doha earlier this month.
