The news outlet Axios reported, citing close aides to U.S. President Donald Trump, that the president may “turn against” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and withdraw his political support if Netanyahu rejects the American peace plan aimed at ending the war in Gaza.

The leak emerged just hours ahead of a crucial White House meeting between the two leaders on Monday, widely seen as the last chance to secure approval for Washington’s comprehensive plan to end the nearly two-year conflict.
According to the report, frustration is mounting within the Trump administration over what it views as Netanyahu’s “stalling tactics.” The Israeli leader is accused of obstructing diplomatic efforts for domestic political reasons, particularly to preserve his far-right governing coalition.
Trump’s aides stressed that the Gaza peace process is a test of the president’s credibility. They warned that everything Trump hopes to achieve in the Middle East could be undermined if he fails to persuade Netanyahu to end the war.
Advisers Brian Witkoff and Jared Kushner are reportedly running out of patience—Witkoff working with Israel and Kushner coordinating with Arab states—both increasingly exasperated by Israeli intransigence.
The report adds that Netanyahu’s recent moves, such as missile deployments to Qatar that triggered unified Gulf responses, have fueled tensions. Some of Trump’s advisers believe Netanyahu is exploiting the president and destabilizing the region to preserve his own political survival.
Netanyahu’s preoccupation with his corruption trial, the aides say, is one reason for his aggressive posture. He now faces a choice: align with Trump’s demand to end the war or bow to the pressures of his far-right partners.
“Netanyahu must stop interfering in U.S. domestic politics,” one adviser was quoted as saying, noting that his priorities should be Israel and Gaza rather than undermining Trump.
