Venezuelan Ambassador to Jordan Omar Vielma Osuna expressed his sincere gratitude to Jordan and Qatar for the support they provided to Venezuela in the aftermath of the recent disaster, saying both countries acted “like brothers” during a time of great hardship.
Speaking to Al Mamlaka TV early Sunday, Osuna said the Qatari government and people responded swiftly to Venezuela’s needs, while Jordan deployed a 100-member search and rescue team to assist in rescue operations.
He noted that the Jordanian team successfully rescued a three-year-old child from beneath the rubble, describing the child as having become “a symbol of hope” for the Venezuelan people.
Osuna added that the Jordanian and Qatari peoples demonstrated genuine solidarity with Venezuela during its time of crisis, saying such actions embody the true spirit of brotherhood and humanitarian cooperation.
“The difficult moments reveal who your true friends are,” the ambassador said. “Jordan acted like a brother, and so did the people and government of Qatar.”
He also conveyed the appreciation of Venezuelan President Delcy Rodríguez, as well as the Venezuelan government and people, expressing their deep gratitude to Jordan and Qatar for their support during this challenging period.
Earlier on Sunday, Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced the evacuation of 21 Jordanian citizens from Venezuela aboard a Qatari Air Force C-17 cargo aircraft, which had delivered humanitarian, medical, and food assistance from Amman to Caracas last Thursday.
The aircraft returned to Amman carrying the evacuated Jordanians along with the accompanying Jordanian military delegation.
The evacuation was carried out in line with Royal directives to ensure the safe return of Jordanian nationals following the recent twin earthquakes that struck Venezuela.
The operation was conducted through cooperation between the Jordan Armed Forces–Arab Army and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, in coordination with the relevant authorities in Venezuela and the State of Qatar.
