Data from the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) recorded a decline in the number of registered refugees and asylum seekers in Jordan, with the total dropping to 419,950 refugees by the end of last March, compared to 426,931 refugees in February, representing a decrease of approximately 1.64%.اضافة اعلان

According to data reviewed by Al Mamlaka, 336,912 refugees—representing 80.2%—reside in urban areas, while 83,038 refugees, or 19.8%, live in camps.

The 18–35 age group represents the largest share, with 116,931 individuals, accounting for 27.8% of registered refugees and asylum seekers. This is followed by children aged 5–11, totaling 90,244 individuals (21.5%), then the 36–59 age group with 78,468 individuals (18.7%). Children under the age of five number 51,258, making up 12.2%, while those aged 60 and above total 17,502 people, or 4.2%.

The data indicates that males make up 46.5% of the total registered refugees, with 195,399 individuals, compared to 207,049 females, representing 49.3%. Elderly people account for 4.2% of the total registered population.

Syrian refugees make up the largest proportion at 94.4%, with 396,640 refugees, followed by Iraqis with 12,242 (2.9%), Yemenis with 6,105 (1.5%), Sudanese with 4,249 (1%), in addition to other nationalities with smaller percentages.

According to the data, 101,002 refugees, or 24.1%, require some form of protection or support, including 58,775 suffering from serious medical conditions and 42,937 persons with disabilities, in addition to children, women, and elderly individuals living in various vulnerable conditions.

The data shows that the peak was recorded in 2013, with 110,135 refugees, while numbers have declined significantly in recent years, reaching only 62 refugees in 2025 and 7 refugees in 2026 up to the end of March.

Refugees are mainly distributed across Jordan in Amman with 144,010 refugees (34.3%), followed by Irbid with 70,361 (16.8%), then Mafraq with 52,230 refugees (12.4%). Meanwhile, Zaatari Refugee Camp hosts 49,466 refugees, and Azraq Refugee Camp hosts 33,419 refugees.
