UNDP discusses climate change with Al-Hussein Bin Talal University

AMMAN — On Wednesday, Professor Dr. Atef Al-Khrabsheh, the president of Al-Hussein Bin Talal University (AHU), extended a warm welcome to a delegation from UNDP Jordan. The meeting extensively discussed various programs and activities related to climate change in Ma’an Governorate, currently supported by UNDP Jordan as part of safeguarding the environment—a crucial aspect of sustainable development. اضافة اعلان



According to a statement, the dialogue particularly highlighted the importance of supporting local communities in facing the challenges posed by the climate change crisis, concurrently promoting awareness among university students.

Throughout the meeting, Professor Khrabsheh lauded the commendable efforts aimed at involving students in devising innovative solutions to environmental issues in Jordan. He emphasized the urgency of the water crisis and underscored the university’s commitment to harnessing its students' potential.



This commitment is exemplified through an upcoming competition designed to generate practical and applicable entrepreneurial ideas, with a focus on the critical realms of water and agriculture. The objective is to contribute to the resilience of local communities in the face of climate change, specifically addressing challenges related to water and agriculture.

Significantly, UNDP Jordan plans to recognize three projects by participating students, providing financial support to each winning initiative. These projects are anticipated to showcase practicality, innovation, and potential for further development.



The meeting was attended by key figures, including Dr. Ahmed Salah, Director of the International Relations Department, Dr. Muath Al-Safasfeh, Director of the Academic Development and Quality Assurance Center, Dr. Habis Al-Zboon from the College of Engineering, and Dr. Khaled Abu Tayeh, Dean of the Faculty of Educational Sciences at Al-Hussein Bin Talal University.
