The directive came during a board meeting of the Land Transport Regulatory Authority, where key issues in the land transport sector were discussed, including reviewing current procedures to enhance service performance.

Dr. Al-Qatamin emphasized that fieldwork should be a constant approach for the authority, and decisions must be based on accurate, real-world assessments reflecting the needs of both citizens and transport operators. The main goal is to improve public service and facilitate safe and organized transport.

The Minister also called for:

Encouraging sector employees to integrate within regulated companies to improve service quality, efficiency, and safety.

Activating the complaints department to better communicate with the public.

Strengthening coordination between the accident department and relevant authorities such as the Traffic Department, Ministry of Public Works, and Public Security to reduce road accidents and enhance traffic safety.

The meeting also addressed regulations for smart transport applications, under the recently approved system, to ensure equal opportunities among operators and maintain high safety and service quality standards. The regulations will account for technological developments and market requirements while safeguarding the rights of workers and users.

Dr. Al-Qatamin instructed an urgent review of the legal and regulatory frameworks governing land transport to resolve overlaps or gaps that could create administrative or legislative confusion, ensuring clarity of roles and coordinated efforts across all relevant bodies.

The upcoming phase will focus on institutional integration between the authority and other transport institutions to achieve a unified national vision, enhancing service quality, operator efficiency, and land transport infrastructure. He stressed that citizens remain the focal point of the Ministry of Transport and the Land Transport Regulatory Authority, with public transport services playing a key role in supporting economic and social development and improving quality of life across the Kingdom.
