BAGHDAD - Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply, Yousef Shamali, said Jordanian market is "open to Iraqi industries without any obstacles or fees."
Speaking at two separate meetings on Thursday, with heads of Iraqi Federation of Industries (IFI), and Baghdad Chamber of Commerce (BCC), Shamali said Iraqi industries enter the Jordanian market without any customs duties, stressing the importance of strengthening joint trade exchange.
Shamali highlighted the importance of the private sector's joint action and the pursuit of economic integration between the two countries.
Shamali said the ministry is seeking to expand lists of Jordanian goods exempt from Iraqi customs duties, which caused "high" prices of Jordanian goods in the Iraqi market.
On future cooperation, the minister stressed the importance of holding joint foreign exhibitions to promote Jordanian and Iraqi industries in global markets.
The government, he noted, is seeking to find "sustainable" relations among the two countries' private sector on an integrative basis, he said, pointing to the importance of the joint industrial zone, which will be established soon.
