Royal navy thwarts Aqaba smuggling attempt

AMMAN — A military source from the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army General Command said that the Royal Naval Forces thwarted an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotics via one of its waterfronts into Jordanian territorial waters at dawn on Monday, according to a local news outlet.اضافة اعلان

“The situation was dealt with after the Royal Naval Operations Center detected a boat entering Jordan’s territorial waters,” the source said.

“Royal Naval Force boats were immediately mobilized, reaching the location. The intruders fled and, after a search and survey of the area, quantities of narcotic substances were found,” the source noted.



The items were seized and transferred to the relevant security authorities.

The source stressed that the Royal Naval Force will deal “with force and severity” with any smuggling attempts along the Kingdom’s maritime borders, and prevent any attempts to interfere with Jordanian national security.
