AMMAN — The Australian government's announcement regarding its intention to officially resume using the term "Occupied Palestinian Territories" in its communications and dealings related to the Palestinian file has been hailed as an "exemplary" international political move, according to Abdullah Kanaan, the Secretary-General of the Royal Committee for Jerusalem Affairs (RCJA).اضافة اعلان

Kanaan emphasized that this step reflects Australia's strong commitment to upholding the rights of the Palestinian people to their occupied land, the Jordan News Agency, Petra reported. He noted that it represents a diplomatic implementation of the resolutions established by international legitimacy concerning the Palestinian issue.

Australia’s declaration aligns with the global position on the matter
On Sunday, Kanaan stated that Australia's declaration aligns with the global position on the matter and is consistent with the Kingdom’s stance. Under the leadership of the Hashemite monarchy, Jordan has taken on the role of custodianship over Jerusalem's holy Islamic and Christian sites.

Australia emphasized the importance of a two-state solution
He further pointed out that the committee recalls Australia's stance from last October when Canberra reversed its previous decision to recognize West Jerusalem as Israel's capital. Instead, Australia emphasized the importance of a two-state solution and the principle of negotiations to achieve lasting peace.

A departure from a policy of double standardsDescribing Australia's decision as an important diplomatic strategy, Kanaan highlighted that it underscores Canberra's alignment with the European Union's position and the aspirations of free people around the world. This also signifies a departure from a policy of double standards and bias in favor of Israel, in favor of a more balanced global diplomacy.
