Prime Minister Jafar Hsasan inaugurated the Prince Faisal Youth City in Karak on Sunday, coinciding with King Abdullah II’s visit to the governorate.
The project was completed ahead of schedule, compressing all phases into a single year, whereas initially the first phase was planned for this year and the second and third phases for next year. This acceleration aims to serve the residents of Karak and enhance youth and sports activities in the region.
The expedited completion follows royal directives to continue developing sports facilities across the governorates, alongside plans for a new international football stadium and upgrades to the Hussein Youth City, Jordan’s first sports city.
During the opening, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of ongoing maintenance to keep the city fully functional for residents and youth activities.
Previously, Hsasan inspected the project during King Abdullah II’s visit to Karak in November last year for the King’s Silver Jubilee, when the first phase was only 35% complete. He had then instructed the government to complete all three phases concurrently within the current year.
The Prince Faisal Youth City, covering over 250 dunams, features:
An Olympic-standard swimming pool and a children’s learning pool
Spectator stands
A five-a-side football pitch and a multi-purpose acrylic field
Supporting buildings and health facilities
Extensive green spaces and outdoor recreation areas
Children’s playgrounds and parking facilities
The city serves both as a sports hub and a community recreational space for local residents.
Last month, the Prime Minister also reviewed the comprehensive upgrade of facilities at Hussein Youth City, directed by the King to benefit sports federations and the public.
The opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Youth Raed Al-Adwan and Karak Governor Qablan Al-Sharif.
