As part of a security campaign to crack down on drug dealers and traffickers, the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) made the move after being tipped off about a suspect who had been trying to manufacture methamphetamine in his house in East Amman.

AND officers did not find the suspect at home, but seized chemicals for manufacturing methamphetamine. They arrested him later on.

The PSD Media Department reported that the suspect confessed that another individual worked with him to manufacture and sell crystal meth. They had purchased chemical materials to start manufacturing crystal meth before being arrested.

AND officers arrested the other suspect in the case along with another man; they had in their possession illegal drugs and crystal meth, it added.

In another case, west of Al-Balqa, police raided a chalet where a suspected drug dealer possessed marijuana and a firearm. The police arrested the suspect who tried to escape, PSD said.

It added that a suspected drug dealer was arrested in Zarqa, along with another man, after the police raided the dealer’s home and found hashish and crystal meth.

The police also arrested two drug traffickers on the road between Mafraq and Zarqa. They had in their possession two firearms and illegal narcotics, it said.
