Over 700,000 people register to benefit from electricity tariff subsidy

AMMAN  — The total number of accounts registered on the website to benefit from the subsidized electricity tariffs in the domestic sector on Sunday stood at 767,000, the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission announced on Saturday, according to Jordan News Agency, Petra. According to EMRC data, 98.66 per cent of Jordanians wish to benefit from the subsidized tariffs; the number of Gaza Strip citizens residing in Jordan who registered for subsidy reached 1.25 per cent and of temporary Jordanian passport holders reached 0.09 percent. To date, the website received 2,015 remarks, inquiries and complaints, of which 1,883 were addressed. The process of handling the remaining 135 complaints is under way, EMRC said. EMRC called on those who could be beneficiaries to register on the website kahraba.gov.jo, adding that the new tariff enters into force as of April 1.
