In a statement to Tasnim News Agency, an Iranian security official emphasized that this grace period does not mean Iran will halt its operational plans. He stressed that Tehran will continue to respond and defend the country with full force, asserting that U.S. threats will not deter Iran from protecting its interests.
Fars News Agency further clarified that there is no direct communication between Iran and the United States, nor any contact through mediators, reaffirming Iran’s firm stance in the face of potential threats.
The U.S. Perspective
Earlier on Monday, President Donald Trump issued instructions to postpone any military attacks targeting Iranian power plants for five days. This directive came just hours before a deadline that threatened further escalation in a conflict now entering its fourth week.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed that the U.S. and Iran had held "very good and constructive" talks over the past two days regarding a "final and comprehensive solution to the hostilities in the Middle East."
Trump described these discussions as "in-depth, detailed, and constructive," noting they would continue throughout the week. He clarified that his instructions to the Department of War to delay strikes on Iranian energy facilities are contingent upon the results of ongoing meetings and discussions.
